Sorry again.

I can't find a picture to go with the.. incident... mentioned below, but another sweet incident having to do with Flower should suffice, no? :)

Just letting you know I hope to find the time TONIGHT to finish two posts I've had started for aaaages. I worked on homework for 5 hours straight yesterday to free up my weekend (it starts on Fridays :) for hockey watching, writing, and reading. How many 18 year old college GIRLS do that?? Right, only the devoted/cool ones!

But I have to say, this made me chuckle on a morning that I can hardly function (see: "working till 2:30am on homework"):
"The one where I sat on it?" he said. "Oh yeah. (Expletive) yeah. That stunk."
That would be "Flower," Mr. Marc-Andre Fleury, on what turned out to be the GWG in Game 6... where Zetterberg's shot skittered to a stop behind him, he sat down, and effectively scored the goal with his ass.
Glad to see you're not still sore, Marc ;)
But really. I love the kid. He's probably my second favorite goalie in the East (which I hardly follow - my #1 is a native Michigander, Ryan Miller, so I don't put much thought into these things) and I'm almost sad to see him, of all the Flightless Birds, disappointed. But cheer up, Flower! You'll get back there again within a few years. And yeah, so long as we take a few key losses to our blueline corps (ie. Nicklas Lidstrom retires and none of our already flashy prospects *coughJonathanEricssoncough* prove to be what they're hinting at right now) and our Top Six fizzle out...

Oh dang. Out comes the seemingly arrogant Wings fan in me. But I promise! It's just playful ribbing. Let's revise:

No team, not even Detroit who's bordering a "dynasty," can hold together it's key cogs forever. You'll get there again a few times in your career, Flower, and I'm sure you'll get at least one cup. I mean, Gary Bettman is practically in love with you guys, so he'd die of a broken heart if he didn't get to hand the cup to Sid the Kid before his reign as Commissioner is over!

Wait... no bitterness... revise the last part...
Nope. Just delete it.

What I'm TRYING to say:
No team, not even Detroit who's bordering on a "dynasty," can hold together it's key cogs forever - there's movement, retiring, finding new guys that fit in perfect... and then adjustment periods. You'll get there again a number of times in your career, Flower, and I'm sure you'll get at least one cup, but two or three could be easily obtainable too. You're young and just getting better. Cheer up :)

Blegh. I totally just coddled an Eastern Conference goalie... I need to coddle Ozzie's ego at some point tonight to counter-balance this. Just add it on the list of things to do :P
