A friend and I are heading a mile out of downtown Grand Rapids to the Griffins' practice on Friday morning, and the only camera policy is no flash. Know what this means? Baby Wings! I get to watch, photograph, and potentially meet some baby Red Wings! I most have my eye on defensive prospects Jakub Kindl and Jonathan Ericsson, but others to snap include Darren Helm (C), Daniel Larsson (G), and Ville Leino (C)... not to mention the Wings' demoted enforcer, Aaron Downey (RW), who's the life of the party.
The receptionist who took my question made it sound like we could meet and get pictures with some of the guys after practice, which means I get to try to contain myself as much as possible to not go all squealing fan-girl on the guys. I mean, I'm a fan who happens to be a girl and some of the guys I am set on following with my camera are attractive... so squealing will at least ensue during the practice. I'm pretty good about being calm in the presence of guys who rock my world. This summer proved that, what with going to the most amazing concert ever and meeting two full bands, while fully under control.
But... this is hockey... so realistically? Realistically, as soon as I'm in my car afterwards, I'm probably going to be screaming with my friend. She might have to drive my car back I might be in such a state ;)
