No contract could be polished off before 11 am between Brad Stuart and the Red Wings. GM Ken Holland will continue talking to Stuart's agent through today, but it's highly likely he will be looking for his 5-year contract out on the West Coast with speculations being a re-signing with the LA Kings (though I have heard from others that the Sharks would fit his needs if they can't resign Campbell).
Other talk from this anonymous poster says the Wings will go after Andrew Raycroft as a backup goaltender and Jagr (as danced around last post) is still highly likely to take place. As for me? I'm thoroughly disappointed. Stuart grew on me like mold grows on bread left out too long. I love the guy! He fits here perfectly! More so than anywhere else he's ever played, I wish he could see that. Yes, it took a bit to get over the fact his hit in 06-07 is the reason Zetterberg's back will never be 100% again, but once that happened, I couldn't picture him in another jersey. I'm playing Taps in my head right now. Have fun, Cali boy, but I won't be wishing you luck in your endeavors in a jersey other than the Winged Wheel...

EDIT (6:57pm EDT): Andreas Lilja (D) was just signed to a 2-year deal at $1.2 million per season. This just about confirms my worst fears that there is no salvaging the Stumeister. I'd rather lose BOTH than just lose Stuart to be honest. There is little I do I hide my strong dislike for Lilja. The only things I like about him are his last name and he wears one of my two favorite numbers (#3)!
